For a small country Wales has an abundance of water making it a haven for anglers of all sorts. Tywyn and the surrounding areas on the mid west Wales coast are surrounded by sea, rivers and lakes, making it one of the best all round angling locations available.

From the sea we have storm beaches that sustain species such as bass, cod, flatties, rays, mackerel,  whiting to 2lb record breaking fish including turbot of over 10lb, sting ray over 54lb and monkfish over 52lb.

Rivers around Tywyn include the Dovey, Dysinni, Mawddach and Wnion, all of which deliver double figure fish regularly and are easy for anglers to get to.

The River Dysynni which flows out of Tal-y-Llyn Lake and enters the sea to the north of Tywyn has excellent fishing for brown and sea trout with salmon and Sewin putting in an appearance, but remember you need a license for this style of fishing.

For free river fishing why not try the excellent mullet fishing on a light line for a fight of a life time, they congregate in the Broad Waters and further up the Dysynni or try the bass fishing in the river mouth using fly or spinning in the river mouth – either way, they will both give you a remarkable days enjoyment.

Lake fishing within traveling distance of Tywyn include the Tal-y-Llyn Lake Cregennan lakes, Llyn Clywedog,  Nant-y-moch Reservoir Tal-y-bont, Llyn Trawsfynydd and Llyn Brenig with several other wild brown trout lakes in the hills that are worth investigating.

Wherever you want to fish, just ring up Barry for more information on what is being caught locally.
